When choosing the perfect piano, you need to consider a few things:

It’s upright or grand?

Choose between an upright piano and a grand piano depending on how big your space at home is. Consider the size, shape and number of pianos that are suitable for your home.

It is typically made out of wood. The piano can be as high as 53″, but the height is usually between 37 and 43 inches. Due to the vertical string compartment, upright pianos are smaller and take less space. A upright piano has flat sides and a straight back, which makes it very easy to set up against a window or corner. In most cases, the strings are hung horizontally while the hammer strikes vertically. Each hit is a great sound, but repetitive notes are slower due to the gravitational effect of the hammer.

From baby grand to concert grand, used for orchestras and musical groups in theatres. Style creates an extremely elegant appearance. The strings are positioned differently from an upright piano, just as the action is. As the strings are placed horizontally, they will be struck vertically by the hammer. This action creates a sound which is consistent and controlled. Both better players and amateurs prefer this because it produces the sound they want to make.

Action

In order to get the best performance out of your piano, you need good action. Playing comfort is affected by the action, which refers both to how hard it is to press a certain key, as well as how quickly that key returns to its original position. A grand allows you to more easily play repetitive music because the weight of the piano helps ease pressure on its keys. Upright pianos produce harder, distinct tones.

Portability

According to the size of upright pianos, they can be more easily moved than grand pianos. Sizes vary greatly and upright pianos tend to be smaller. They are also more portable.

Sound

If you’re looking for a sound that is hard, fitting and quick, an upright will produce it, while a grands piano produces softer, lighter sounds. This is because the sound of the piano depends on the mechanism and key pressure.
