Over the weekend, Ubisoft shared new trailers and gameplay footage for some of its upcoming console, PC, and mobile games. Tom Clancy's Elite Squad was among the titles shown, with a shiny trailer paving the way for its upcoming iOS & Android launch on August 27th.

This one's a turn-based squad shooter that actually soft-launched for Android in the Philippines back in March. It challenges you to assemble a killer team of Ubisoft's most famous characters, such as Sam Fisher and that guy from The Division.

To be fair, I recognise more of the game's heroes than I expected to, which is still only like three of them. Still, I do like the fact that it's gone for a more stylised depiction of these characters, even if it's just cruel for Ubisoft to keep teasing us with Fisher in this way.

A CONTROVERSY prevailed among the beasts of the field as to which of the animals deserved the most credit for producing the greatest number of whelps at a birth. They rushed clamorously into the presence of the Lioness and demanded of her the settlement of the dispute. "And you," they said, "how many sons have you at a birth?' The Lioness laughed at them, and said: "Why! I have only one; but that one is altogether a thoroughbred Lion."The Dog's House

Game Stew's Castle of White Night is a homage to classic first-person dungeon crawlers that delivers a surprisingly fleet-footed, intense take on what is a very old-school formula. The basic idea is that you'll explore a series of complex labyrinths in search of loot and hidden treasures, attempting to take down 100 twisted souls as you go.

There be monsters here, of course – over 50 of the damned things. These guys range from quite literal pillars of flesh to giant goblins and beyond. There's a handy auto-mapping system, allowing you to get a clear picture of where you've been and where you're headed. In general, it's very mobile-friendly, with surprisingly fast-paced real-time combat and a focus on shorter play sessions.

"How kind and thoughtful you are, Captain Jim. Nobody else-- not even Gilbert"--with a shake of her head at him--"remembered that I always long for mayflowers in spring."
Dragon Quest Tact now has a firm release date in Japan – next Thursday, July 16th (thanks, Gematsu). Square Enix's tactical RPG sees you leading a small team of monsters around a series of grid-based maps while testing out new strategies and gradually levelling up.

It sounds fairly straightforward, all told, with an auto-battle mode being available to those looking for a more hands-off experience. When you do opt to take charge, you'll have to consider your fighters' range and various skills in order to claim victory.

Over time, you'll build up your roster of monsters and work to train them for the tougher fights ahead. Outside of the main story mode, there's also something called the 'Battle Road', which sounds like an endless tournament-style challenge.
